FISH IN STEEL
Making the fish
For each enquiry we receive , sketches detailing the size, shape, mounting options etc. are drawn up following the customer preferences. For example, if the customer wishes to have a piece made up of 3 large Perch mounted on a wooden sleeper, we will sketch different lay-out ideas, shape of fish and possible extras such as weed/ smaller silverfish following. If the customer is happy with the sketches, they will make the decision of which piece they prefer and the order will be confirmed. We ask customers to provide 40% of the cost of the sculpture before beginning too ensure they are happy with going ahead with the piece.
Now the piece is ready to be made. Each fish is cut, cleaned and prepared; this generally includes, bending and shaping the steel rod and sheet to shape, removing any sharp edges and welding together. After completion, each piece is given a light coating of galvanizing spray to offer a slight amount of protection. Colours and textures can be added at a later date.
The customer also has the option of how they would like the piece to be mounted. Options include:-
-Wall mounting
-Free standing (on railway sleeper of steel base).
Mounted on a railway sleeper Mounted on a steel base Freestanding (no base) or wall brackets
